Maybe you have heard people in the locker room at the gym talking about Whey Protein. Maybe the words Whey Isolate Protein have even come up. What exactly is it and why should you use it? That is a great question. In fact, we should always ask this question before we put anything into our bodies. So here is a quick guide to what Whey Isolate Protein is and what its benefits are.

Whey protein is produced through a process where protein is separated from milk. This separation process is so thorough that it takes out virtually all of the fat, carbs and lactose, you would usually get from milk and makes it into a powder of almost pure protein. The best part is, it is so easy to mix with foods and drinks and is much easier to digest than proteins from other sources. Protein powders contain more protein than eggs, lean meats, soy, and milk.

Ok, but there is whey protein concentrate and whey isolate protein. What is the difference? The differences between the two are slight but may be important to some people. Both types of protein go through the same process of separation, however, concentrate comes out 80% protein while Isolate comes out at 90%. There is virtually no lactose in either, although Whey Isolate Protein has been found to have lesser negative effects on those with dairy sensitive stomachs.

Also, if you are trying to eliminate as much fat as possible from your diet, Whey Isolate is the way to go. As mentioned before, although they go through the same separation process, Isolate Protein is processed one extra time, which is why it is more pure.

Whey Isolate Protein is readily available for purchase and is very popular among serious athletes. This is due to it being so easily digestible and the almost non-existent taste makes it easy to mix with drinks and food, which is especially beneficial if you are on the run. Whey Isolate Protein is also a favorite of athletes because of its ability to provide the body with the necessary amino acids it needs to continue building muscle well after a workout has ended. Obviously giving you better results, faster!
